Visitor Comments:   Great web-site.  It brought back many memories.  I was a student at Fletton Secondary school during the war years, 1938-1942 with Johnny King.  Now living in Vancouver B.C. Canada. Trying to find other friends who were in my class, particularly Mary Hills, who had a twin brother, Albert, and a younger sister Daphne.

Sorry to bore you more, I have just remembered a couple of facts from the 60s.

When playing for Fletton WMC we used to play against a team called Celta 66, formed I think from the Celta road. We came second to them in all leagues, we were promoted 4 years on the trot as runners up to them.

You mentioned Cyril Parrot, I played with his son Mick at Fletton and for Phorpress in the mid/late 60s, he was magic. I remember playing at Fletton By Pass when Tony Millington (the posh and Wales goalkeeper) who was playing for Posh at the time asked me to point out Mick and wanted to know how old he was, when I told him he was 20, he said oh, he's too old and went. I wish I had lied because Mick was good and could have made it as a pro.

Another coincidence is that my brother Don Baker used to play for Warmington, I think just after your photo's on the site. It was going to watch him play that got my interest in football.

What a smashing site, well done, excellent.

I went to the two schools mentioned in Fletton on the bridge and I like telling people I went to Fletton Grammar School (but of course it was'nt a grammar school) But if they are not local they won't know will they?

I also played football for Fletton WMC from the age of 15 till I was 20 (the reserves that is) 1964-1969  I remember I used to get out of bed at a quarter to 3 and bike to Fletton Avenue just in time for kick off.

I was from Stanground. Very interesting to read your comments on Stanground I lived there and felt the same way

What a great website....I have been looking for some mention of Old Fletton School for a long time. Is the building still there? I was a pupil between 1947 and 1950. Are any of my old school pals out there?
