My father, Ken Withers, bought the Belsize Avenue newsagents shop from Mrs Featherstone in 1974 – and increased the turnover by 1200% by the end of his first year!
Unfortunately he died in 1977 at the age of 59 and, though my half-sister and her mother kept it going for a while, the shop eventually passed to someone unknown to me.
